WUNG TANGKHUL NAGA
BORDER
Considering the fact,
Tangkhul Naga in general & Naga, in particular, maintain traditional Naga
boundaries in their areas since time immemorial.
Every nation, big or
small has a territorial boundary and likewise, all Naga villages share
traditional boundaries with others and Naga villages govern themselves and
deliver justice by a set of traditional and customary laws for ages.
Every Naga village is a republic and border dispute
is of rare occurrence because we do not intend to grasp land which does not
belong to us and also respect others' land laws.
Decades ago, Foreigners
in civilian and military uniforms appeared in our land and erected border
pillars with brute force against strong protests. The pillars were set up
without our consent.
We have known very well
that the 'considered pillars' that stand at present between India and Myanmar
are not based on traditional and historical boundaries of the Nagas'
forefathers.
As the rightful land
owner, we cannot accept the border pillars erected either before or after
India's Independence under any circumstance.
